The apex of the ordinary hierarchy. Jordanian civil law follows the Egyptian model derived from French law, with the Civil Code of 1976 also drawing on Islamic jurisprudence; the Jordanian codes were in force in the West Bank until 1967 and much of that legislation still applies there.
