Using the site, reading a jurisdiction page, or putting a question to the research assistant creates no lawyer-client relationship with us or with anyone else, and attracts no professional privilege.

2.Only a qualified lawyer can advise you

Legal outcomes turn on details that a reference work cannot see: your documents, your dates, your residence and nationality, prior steps taken, and local practice that is nowhere written down.

If a decision has real consequences, instruct a lawyer admitted in the relevant jurisdiction. If cost is the obstacle, contact the local bar association, a law-school clinic or a legal aid service, which the atlas lists for documented jurisdictions where it can.

3.Coverage is deliberately uneven

Every sovereign state has a page, but depth varies sharply. Documented jurisdictions have researched topic-level treatment. Indexed jurisdictions carry verified structural facts only, with no topic-level rules.

The atlas labels which tier you are reading on the record itself. Absence of a rule on an indexed page is not evidence that no such rule exists; it means we have not yet researched it.

4.Currency: law moves faster than any atlas

Statutes are amended, courts are reorganised, fees are revised and deadlines are changed, often with little notice and rarely in English. A record can be accurate on the day it is reviewed and wrong three months later.

Where a record shows a review date, treat it as the honest limit of our knowledge. Confirm anything time-sensitive, and anything involving a deadline or a fee, against the official source before acting.

5.Named statutes, courts and authorities

Where the atlas names an instrument, court or government body, that name is a pointer to the primary source, not a substitute for it. Consolidated official texts, gazettes and court registries remain authoritative.

Translations and transliterations of institutional names are provided for navigation. The version in the official language governs.

6.The research assistant

The assistant is a language model answering from atlas content. It can be confidently wrong, can miss exceptions, and can conflate rules from neighbouring jurisdictions. It is constrained not to present indexed structural data as researched topic guidance, but that constraint is a safeguard rather than a guarantee.

Never treat an assistant answer as verified. Follow the records it cites, then follow those records to the primary source.

7.No deadline or limitation-period reliance

Missing a limitation period or filing deadline can extinguish a right permanently, and such periods are among the most frequently amended and most jurisdiction-specific rules in any legal system.

Do not rely on this site to calculate any deadline. Verify every limitation period with a qualified lawyer or the relevant court or registry.

The atlas is provided without warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency or fitness for any particular purpose, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on it, including missed deadlines, adverse decisions, wasted costs or lost opportunity. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10.Tell us when we are wrong

This disclaimer is not a substitute for accuracy, and we would rather fix an error than shelter behind a caveat. If something here does not match a jurisdiction you know, please submit a correction with a source. It is the fastest way the atlas improves.
