Cookie policy

1.The short version

There is no advertising cookie, no cross-site tracking pixel and no data broker on this site. The only cookie that matters is the one that keeps you signed in.

2.Strictly necessary cookies

• Session cookie: set when you sign in, so that each page load knows who you are. It holds an opaque signed token rather than your details, and expires seven days after it is issued. Without it, accounts, saved items and conversation history cannot work.
• Security cookies: short-lived values used by the authentication flow to protect sign-in and registration against cross-site request forgery.

3.Analytics

In production the site uses Vercel Analytics to count page views and referrers in aggregate. It is designed to measure traffic without building an advertising profile of you, and it is not active in development or preview environments.

4.Local storage

The atlas does not currently keep any interface preferences in your browser’s local storage. If that changes, anything stored there would stay on your device rather than being sent to us, and clearing site data in your browser would remove it.

5.Third-party cookies

We do not embed advertising or social media trackers. Following an external link, for example to an official gazette or court website, takes you to a site with its own cookie practices that we do not control.

6.Controlling cookies

Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, and offers a private browsing mode. Consult your browser’s help pages for the exact steps.

Blocking the session cookie will prevent you from signing in, and saved items and conversation history will be unavailable. The rest of the atlas can be read without signing in at all.

7.Consent

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under UK and EU rules, because the service cannot function without them. If we later add cookies that do require consent, we will ask for it before setting them and update this page.
