Qatari civil law follows the Egyptian-French model in the Civil Code of 2004, with Sharia courts merged into the unified judiciary in 2004 but continuing to apply Islamic law to Muslim personal status. A Supreme Constitutional Court was provided for in 2008 to resolve constitutional disputes.
