Ad hoc arbitration
common-lawcivil-law
Arbitration conducted without the administrative support of an institution.
In more detail
The parties and tribunal manage the procedure themselves, often adopting the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. It can be cheaper than institutional arbitration but relies heavily on cooperative parties and an experienced tribunal, since there is no institution to break deadlocks over appointments or fees.
