Department of Lands and Physical Planning
State land administration and customary land registration.
What this authority does
Administers the roughly 3% of land held as alienated state land, and operates the Incorporated Land Group and voluntary customary land registration systems. Around 97% of PNG's land is customary land held by clans and is not registered under the Torrens system, so land dealings normally require dealing with the customary owners directly.
