What this authority does
Rwanda's justice ministry has overseen an unusual legal migration: a Belgian civil-law system progressively reworked toward common-law forms, with English replacing French as the language of law and commercial courts introduced in 2008. Rwanda joined the Commonwealth in 2009 without a British colonial history.
