Customary Land Management Office
Registers custom owner decisions under the 2013 land reforms.
What this authority does
Established by the Custom Land Management Act 2013, which moved determination of custom ownership out of the courts and into custom land tribunals and nakamal processes. The Constitution vests all land in the indigenous custom owners and permits only leases to non-indigenous persons, so this office is the gateway to any land dealing.
Services for the public
- Custom owner determination
- Land tribunal referrals
- Recording decisions
- Lease consent
