The Grenada Constitution
Given effect by the Grenada Constitution Order 1973 and in force at independence on 7 February 1974. Suspended by People's Laws after the March 1979 revolution and restored in stages, definitively by 1991. Chapter I protects fundamental rights. Amendment of entrenched provisions requires a two-thirds parliamentary majority and approval by referendum, which is why both reform attempts failed.

Separation of powers
Unitary. The state comprises Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique; Carriacou and Petite Martinique have a Ministry and local administration but no separate legislature.
