Approved by referendum in June 2023 and promulgated in July, replacing the 1992 constitution. Strengthens presidential powers, creates a Senate, and makes national languages official with French as a working language. Transitional institutions remain in place pending full electoral restoration.

Separation of powers
Formally a presidential system with a Prime Minister and bicameral legislature under the 2023 text; in practice transitional authorities exercise combined executive and legislative functions pending elections.
