The three branches
- Head of State — The Monarch
- Ceremonial; acts through the Council of State.
- Executive — Prime Minister and Council of State
- Accountable to the Storting.
- Legislative — Storting
- Single chamber of 169 members.
- Judicial — Courts headed by Høyesterett
- Administered by the Courts Administration.
How legislation is made
Bills are debated and passed by the Storting, which since 2009 sits as a single chamber, and sanctioned by the King in Council.
