How the executive, legislature and administrative state are organised, and which body is responsible for what.
The three branches
- Head of State — President of the Republic
- Directly elected; largely ceremonial.
- Executive — Prime Minister and Government
- Accountable to the National Assembly.
- Legislative — National Assembly and National Council
- A dominant lower house and advisory upper body.
- Judicial — Ordinary courts plus the Constitutional Court
- Career judiciary.
How legislation is made
Laws are passed by the National Assembly, subject to a possible suspensive veto by the National Council, and promulgated by the President.

- Directs criminal prosecutions.
Government bodies and regulators
