Distinct from the Court of Cassation and often confused with it. It has decided some of the most consequential questions in post-2003 Iraq, including the constitutionality of the Kurdistan Region's independence referendum in 2017 and of the region's oil and gas law in 2022, and it certifies national election results. Its rulings bind all authorities.
