Constitution of the Union of the Comoros
Adopted in 2001 to hold the federation together after repeated separatist crises, and built around rotation of the union presidency between the islands. The 2018 constitutional revision altered that rotation, extended presidential terms and abolished the Constitutional Court, moving its functions to the Supreme Court — a change that remains politically contested and that unsettles pre-2018 constitutional authority.

Separation of powers
Federal. Grande Comore, Anjouan and Mohéli each have a governor and their own assembly with substantial autonomy over local administration, while the Union handles defence, currency, foreign affairs and nationality.
