The hierarchy, top to bottom
- Constitutional — Tribunal Suprême
- Constitutional and supreme administrative court; five titular and two substitute members appointed by the Prince.
- Supreme — Cour de révision
- Reviews points of law in civil and criminal matters.
- Appellate — Cour d’appel
- Hears appeals from the court of first instance.
- First instance — Tribunal de première instance
- General civil, commercial and criminal jurisdiction.
- Local — Juge de paix and Tribunal correctionnel
- Smaller civil claims, and correctional criminal matters respectively.
- Criminal — Cour d’assises
- Tries the most serious offences.
