Not part of the Kazakh judicial hierarchy and not applying Kazakh law: it applies AIFC acts and, in their absence, the common law of England, with a bench drawn largely from senior English and Commonwealth judges. Its judgments are enforceable in Kazakhstan as if they were domestic court judgments. A party contracting inside the AIFC perimeter is therefore in a different legal system from one contracting elsewhere in the country, and the choice of forum in the contract determines which body of law governs.
