Restored by the 2022 constitutional referendum and operating from 1 January 2023, replacing the Constitutional Council that had existed since 1995. The change matters practically: unlike the Council, the Court accepts direct applications from individuals whose constitutional rights are affected, so a citizen no longer depends on a court referral or an official petitioner to raise a constitutional question.
