Every tier of the judiciary, what it hears, and where an appeal goes next.

The hierarchy, top to bottom

Constitutional — Constitutional Court (Alkotmánybíróság)
Fifteen judges elected by Parliament for twelve years.
Supreme — Curia of Hungary (Kúria)
Apex ordinary court; issues binding uniformity decisions.
Appellate — Regional courts of appeal (ítélőtáblák)
Five appellate courts.
First instance — Regional and district courts
Regional courts also hear appeals from district courts.
Specialised — Administrative and labour panels
Separate administrative courts were legislated in 2018 but never brought into operation.
