The hierarchy, top to bottom
- Constitutional — Supreme Constitutional Court
- Status and composition unsettled during the transition.
- Final appellate — Court of Cassation
- Apex of the ordinary hierarchy; continues to sit.
- Appellate — Courts of Appeal
- One per governorate.
- First instance — Courts of First Instance, Peace Courts, Personal Status Courts
- Sharia courts for Muslims; separate courts for other communities.
- Special — Military and exceptional courts
- Jurisdiction over civilians was extensive before 2024 and is under review.
