The trial tier of the general hierarchy. Specialised chambers sit within particular district courts rather than as free-standing courts: the Commercial Court in Central Jakarta handles insolvency and intellectual property, and the Corruption Court hears cases brought by the anti-corruption commission. Indonesian civil law derives from the Dutch Burgerlijk Wetboek, and adat customary law continues to govern much land tenure.
