The hierarchy, top to bottom
- Constitutional — Tribunal Constitucional Plurinacional
- Magistrates elected by popular vote; seat in Sucre.
- Supreme — Tribunal Supremo de Justicia
- Cassation in ordinary matters; also elected by popular vote.
- Specialised supreme — Tribunal Agroambiental
- Apex court for land, water and environmental disputes.
- Appellate — Tribunales Departamentales de Justicia
- One per department, with indigenous jurisdiction operating in parallel.
