The hierarchy, top to bottom
- Constitutional — Constitutional Council
- Separate from the court hierarchy; reviews constitutionality.
- Final appellate — Supreme Court
- Points of law; may remit or, in limited cases, decide finally.
- Appellate — Court of Appeal
- Sits in Phnom Penh with regional benches.
- First instance — Provincial and Municipal Courts
- General civil and criminal jurisdiction.
- Specialist — Commercial Court and Labour Court
- Established by later legislation; commercial jurisdiction phased in.
