The hierarchy, top to bottom
- Constitutional β Constitutional Court
- Created in 2016; constitutional matters and presidential election petitions.
- Final appellate β Supreme Court
- Final court of appeal in non-constitutional matters.
- Appellate β Court of Appeal
- Also created in 2016, sitting between the High Court and the Supreme Court.
- Superior β High Court
- Unlimited original jurisdiction, with commercial, family and industrial relations divisions.
- First instance β Subordinate and local courts
- Magistrates' courts and local courts applying customary law.
